Hold up! Before you get started with the novel...

Journal Activity:
The transition from adolescence to adulthood involves developing a personal identity, a sense of self. Write a paragraph that describes you, and explains what makes you uniquely you. Consider your future goals and dreams; what you value in a friend; favorite pets; preferred sports and hobbies; best-loved music, literature, movies, etc.

Nitty- Gritty:
Do a little "Google" investigation Ayn Rand. What are five (5) intersting facts you found about her?

Honors: Investigate her ideas on 'objectivism.' How does this theory transcend into modern culture? Structure your response as if you were explainig to your peers in a formal speech. Use specific examples; write your response in a 2x5.

  1. Personal Paragraph: I consider myself a very unique individual. I listen to almost every type of music, especially alternative, punk, country, and classical. I'll read anything that isn't just a love story. It has to have some type of real story in it. My favorite movies are Howl's Moving Castle, Juno, Tombstone, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. My friends are like my family and I love that all my friends are honest and care almost unconditionally. Oh, and I think video games are good for the soul. //_^

  2. I posted in 2 part because there was way too much on one post.
Ayn Rand Objectivism: Ayn Rand described objectivism as "a philosophy for living on earth." She was once asked to present the essence of her philosophy while standing on one foot. She said as follows: Metaphysics- objective reality, Epistemology- reason, Ethics- self-interest, and Politics- Capitalism. If this is translated into simple language and then put them together you would get something like this, If you want to be in control, you need to obey rules your self and just because you want it and think you deserve it, doesn't mean it will happen, you have to work for it. Ayn Rand's objectivism is basically the formula for the perfect hero to a story.
If you apply this to modern culture then you get something like this. "Wishing won't make it so." applies to any one in the world who worked hard to get where they are. "Give me liberty or give me death" a famous quote by Patrick Henry, basically describes anyone that is willing to do what ever it takes to defend or take what is rightfully theirs. The quote may not be modern, but the concept will live on for years to come. Ayn Rand saw this too, that’s why she used it to describe her objectivism.

  3. Personal: NO person is alike so in a way everyone is unique. I consider myself a happy person with a bubbly personality, most of the time. I do not really have a favorite music because I listen to just about anything; it really depends on my mood. My goals in life chance periodically just like any other teenager. Currently I wish to go to UNC and graduate with a business law degree. I work hard in cheerleading and I hope I can only get better with time. My favorite book would have to be Romeo and Juliet, and my favorite movie well there's too much to choose from. I have to say I value honesty and reliability in a friend. It's very important how they treat you and others. In order to have a good friend, you must be one yourself. <3

  4. part 2:
Ayn Rand is known as a champion for individual rights. She once said that facts are facts independent of man’s feelings, wishes, hopes, or fears. That is one of the thoughts that come to mind when you think of objectivism. In today’s society you can’t always tell what fact is and what opinion is. Man’s feelings, wishes, hopes, and fears are now getting twisted into the facts of modern day society. Ayn’s philosophy of Objectivism encouraged men to speak for themselves and their rights as citizens. She did not want them to exceed under their full potential she wanted them to live at their highest values.
Objectivism honors both the rich and the poor, as creators and benefactors in society. Objectivism plays a role in lives worldwide back then and current day. “Man is an end to himself.” Here she’s saying man should go after what they want and strive to be their best without taking someone else down along the way. There is a reason for everything that happens in life. If you do not educate yourself and others what do you really know? Knowledge is our only guide to action. Ayn Rand sees that and she felt by creating Objectivism she could share her knowledge so more people could see the truth in life.

  5. What makes me uniquely me is my past, my choices, my feelings, and my own moral standards. My current goal in life is to have a family and graduate college as a occupational therapist, though it changes occasionally job wise. I don't want to decide anything for sure right now and keep my options open. I listen to just about anything except some rap and country. I'll read any book i'm given because I love to read. Soccer, Tae Kwon Do, and archery are my current sports and I enjoy them all, though for different reasons. My favorite pet I've ever had is my adorable dog Kitty. I value all my friends for different reasons but I think trust is important in every friendship.

Ayn Rand's given name was Alisa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum, but she changed it. She developed a philosophical system she called Objectivism. After facing many hardships, at only 16, her family was poor and close to starving. After the
Russian Revolution, universities were opened to women and Ayn was among the first group to go. Rand had a romantic affair with Nathaniel Branden with the consent of their spouses.

  7. Objectivism is a philosophy developed by Ayn Rand. It has four main points that all work toward the general idea. The first point is Metaphysics Objective Reality in Ayn's words. This simply means reality is a definite absolute that isn't affected by mans' desires, hopes, or fears. Facts are facts, and we can't change them.

Next, there is Epistemology Reason, which means that reason is the only way man can perceive reality, the only way to gain knowledge, and how we decide everything. Ethics Self-interest, the third point, simply means that each man must live for himself, and that he shouldn't sacrifice himself for others, he should pursue his own happiness. This means, for instance, that if you had the choice of saving your own life or your friends, you should choose yours. Lastly, Politics Capitalism, which is the fourth and last point, is a little more complicated. In a direct quote from Ayn Rand, she says, "The ideal political-economic system is laissez-faire capitalism. It is a system where men deal with one another, not as victims and executioners, nor as masters and slaves, but as traders, by free, voluntary exchange to mutual benefit.". Violence can't be used to gain things in this system and policemen are only there to protect our rights. There should also be a separation of state and economics, much like the separation of church and state.

  8. My interests are the most unique things about me. For example, most of my friends like to play sports like basketball and football, while I would prefer to participate in water sports like water skiing, slalom skiing, and wakeboarding. Something else that is unique about me is that I spend my free time playing guitar instead of watching tv or playing video games. Because most of people in my class don't like alot of these things, the majority of my friends are two or three years older than I am. These are the things that make me unique.

  10. I consider myself a little kid at heart and probably will be forever. I live for fun, but when it comes down to it I get work done. I compete on a dance team and it's everything to me. My friends are my life and I know that they'll always be there for me. I read love stories, listen to all kinds of music, and like to watch any kind of movie. I put forth the most effort into being the best person I can possibly be.

  11. Ayn Rand was definately a unique individual. From what I read of her life, she was very different from society. She was against communism, and went as far as to make films against it, even though anti-communism was unpopular at the time. She changed her birth name of Alisa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum to Ayn Rand upon arriving in the United States back in the twenties. While in the US, she got a job as a junior screenwriter, in which she met her husband, an actor by the name of Frank O'Connor.

Eventually her ideas about how a government should be run and her political activism, led to the creation of objectivism. Objectivism is a philosophy that is defined as "The concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute." In todays society, this describes the the individuality
of each and every human being, and fights against anyone who beleives otherwise. I personally think that this is ironic, because the philosophy was created to show individuality, yet it prohibits any beleif that contradicts it, so therefore,it doesn't really allow total individuality.

  12. Ayn Rand knew she was destined to be a writer since she was nine years old. With her unique ideas and creative outlook on life, writing was definitely her thing. Atlas Shrugged was her best writing achievement and published in 1957. The next thing she did was wrote and lectured abut her philosophy...objectivism. She characterized objectivism as a "philosophy for living on earth".

Objectivism is described as the antidote to the present state of the world. Rand explains objectivism to be somebody who lives by their own effort, doesn't give or get something they don't deserve, and someone who honors achievement and rejects envy. Objectivism is simply that there is nothing better than achieving happiness. You just can't get that happiness by wish or whim. To aquire this, you must respect the facts of reality.

  13. I’m known to be a good friend, honest, and quiet, until you get to know me. I consider myself to be an individual and not a follower; I like to set my own trends. Right now I’m just a student, planner and dreamer. However, I think many adults identify themselves with their professions. Someday, I hope to attend college and possibly become a physical therapist. I feel friends and family are more important than what you choose as a vocation. I hope I am forming life - long friendships filled with values of trustworthiness and loyalty. My sport would definitely be cheerleading and I enjoy it very much. There’s always room for improvement and challenges in whatever you do, it builds character. I also like watching football, my teams are Marshall and LSU and I love to cheer them on. My favorite genres of music are pop and inspirational music, it puts me in a great mood. My hobbies are piano and traveling. I like to discover new things, whether it be in a classroom or out on my own. These are the things that make myself, me.

  14. Personal: I consider myself to be an outgoing person. I listen to pretty much anything except heavy meatal, it depends on what I feel like. I currently want to go to UK and finish with a veterinary degree. My friends consider me the life of the party and the crazy one because no matter what mood I am in Ialways love to party and be hyper. The one thing my friends and family like about me is that I am honest and I tell you like it is, it sometimes hurts to hear the truth but the truth needs to come out.

  15. What makes me a unique person is my personality. My personality is kind of crazy and I’m a very bubbly person. I try my best to find the best in every situation. My goal in life is to be a pharmacist and to have a large family. (: what I value in a friend is I want someone who will always be there for me, and who I can tell my secrets to and they won’t tell anyone. My favorite pet that I want is a platypus, but my favorite pet that I have is my yorkie Abby. My favorite sport watch is football, but my favorite sport to play would have to be either volleyball or softball. Sadly I haven’t been able to play softball since the 7th grade because I had surgery on my left leg from where I broke it in 6th grade. When I had my surgery I got titanium rod stuck in my Tibia and two screws.

Ayn Rand’s original name was Alisa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum. She was born on February 2nd 1905 in Saint Petersburg, Russian Empire. She died at the age of 77 in New York City, New York. She was a writer and a philosopher. She was married to Frank O’Connor in 1929.

Objectivism is a philosophy defined by Ayn Rand which is metaphysically objectives. Objectivism comes from the principle that human knowledge and values are objective; they are not created by the thoughts one has, but are determined by the nature of reality. Rand's philosophy begins with three things: existence, identity, and consciousness. So in other easier to understand words you need objectives because they get you farther in life.

I think objectivism applies today still because it involves objectives. Objectives are pretty much goals. You need goals to get you anywhere in life. So, objectivism still applies in today’s times because you will always have goal, no matter what.

  16. Personal: I feel like people are like snowflakes in the sense that no two are alike. Everyone has there own system of morals and beliefs. As for future goals, I'm not too specific. All i know right now is want to graduate college and earn all of my necessary degrees for whatever career pathway I choose. Friends can be described like this, "A buddy will go with you to rob a store, but a friend will be there waiting with the police for you." You can determine what you think of that. I am about allergic to all animals, except for the fish and turtles I had as a kid. They ran away. Music is a large part of describing me. I listen to everything, but mostly classic rock, and I like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Who? However, my favorite band would have to be The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Most of my free time is taken up by playing guitar, and recently some keyboard, drums, and some bass. I also play basketball, football, soccer, and I lift weights. I'll end on this phrase, "Once a mountaineer, always a mountaineer."

  18. From what I read of Ayn's life, she was very different from most people. When moving to the USA in the twenties she changed her name from Alisa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum to Ayn Rand. She was very strongly against communism, she was very up front about her dislikes of the US government. Later she married an actor by the name of Frank O'Connor. Ayn died of heart failure on March 6, 1982 after fighting lung cancer.
Not only being a Russian-American author, she also was a philosopher, playwright, and screenwriter. She knew at a young age she would become a famous author. Her last words to her family when leaving Rusia was "when I return I will be famous." An essay about the actress Pola Negri, was Ayn's first published work. Ayn was a very unique person and was looked up to by many people from all over.

  19. Well, you can ask anybody in my family and they will tell you the same thing....I'm a smiling happy person who's honest, but I'm just a little on the stubborn side. Some people think I'm really shy when it comes to school, but I'm like that so I can concentrate. Once I get distracted I'm done for. I can promise that. Everybody is unique in their own way, and to be honest, I don't know what mine is. I notice that I do a lot of things different than the people around me and that's okay with me! I would be lying if I said that I didn't love Ohio State and wish to get a schlorship in softball there. Then after softball I'd like to get a degree to be a nurse practitioner. Dream big right? A good friend to me is somebody who I can trust, can be there for me when I need them, and can put a smile on my face whenever I'm feeling pretty low. I grew up with my dad playing rock n roll, my mom playing the Eagles whatever kind of genre they are, and rap from my sister. So, let's just say I listen to just about anything, except blue grass. I like to read, but I haven't found a favorite book. I don't have a favorite movie, but I do love comedies. There is just to many good ones. I am a hopeless romantic at heart though! I love being around people, laughing, softball which controls my life, but I'd die without it, and my fam and friends. Plus, I can't live without watching my favorite baseball team (the Yankees) play! All of those things keep me sane in this world, and they are what makes me, me! (:

  20. Rand moved to Hollywood in 1926 to begin writing screen plays. After being in Hollywood only two days, a well-known filmmaker gave Rand her first job as an extra in his movie. She met Frank O’Conner, her future husband, after just two weeks. They were wed in 1929 and were married for fifty years until his death. Rand’s first screen-play “Red Pawn” was sold to Universal Studios in 1932. She died in 1982 after having lung cancer.

  21. Ayn Rand who's real name was Alisa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum was born in Russia in 1905 and moved to the United States in 1926. She was always an amazing writer, and knew that, that's what she wanted to do at the age of nine. She was anti- communist. She got married to man named Frank O'Connor and died at age 77. She will always be known for her writing and philosophy.

Ayn Rands hatred for communism is what lead her to create her philosophy objectivisim. It is an emphasis on objects rather than feelings or thought. She believed that facts were facts, and you don't get what you don't deserve. The principle is that knowledge and values are objective, it is determined by reality. Plus, she believed that there was nothing better than achieving happiness.

Today, objectivism isn't really followed. A lot of things in this world are unfair, and that's probably how it will always be. Usually if your given something, whether you deserve it or not your going to take it and not think twice about it. That's just how the human mind works. You get determined. In a way it's the same though because you usually always have goals and when you achieve them you seek happiness. That's how I comprehend Ayn Rand's philosophy.

  22. I am unique because of my thoughts and actions. I am a normal person, I don't talk much, ask my family and they'll tell you I am spartan and stoic. I like quiet places, I don't hardly listen to music. I like to play soccer and am on the archery team. I value in a friend honesty and kindness. I think friendship works both ways and that two friends have to be there for each other. One day I want to be a surgeon. My favorite pet is my dog Zues. My favorite book is Roots by Alex Haley, and my favorite movie is Avatar by James Cameron.

  23. Ayn Rand is a Russian-American Rosa Parks. She is the biggest emphasizer on individual rights probably in the history of man. She also believes facts are facts no matter what anyone had to say about it. I think she was basically trying to say that you do the best with what you've got. I find it quite interesting that she said fact is fact no matter what anyone has to say but at the same time says try your absolute hardest, never give up, reach for the stars and beyond, etc.

Ayn Rand's theory of objectivism plays into modern day culture through a combonation of two things: wishing won't get you a darn thing, and fight for liberty or die trying. For what is a man if he himself is not free. Ayn Rand wanted man to be at his full potential and nothing less. I believe her theory of objectivism was to open man's eyes to our full potential, and that man should speak for himself and his rights as a citizen.

  29. Ayn Rand was born on February 2, 1905, and was then named Alisa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum. She died on March 6, 1982, in New York. She grew up in Saint Petersburg in Russia, and she was the eldest of three sisters. Her father was a chemist and owned a pharmacy. When she was growing up, adults envied her intelligence, yet she didn't have many friends. When Ayn was twelve, her father’s pharmacy was confiscated by the Bolsheviks. Later on when she was in high school, she decided that she was atheist, and she valued reason over human attribute. After she graduated high school, she acquired a job teaching soldiers of the Red Army how to read, and later the soldiers respected her and her ideas. When she was sixteen, she and her family returned to Saint Petersburg from Crimea, where they had fled when her father’s pharmacy was confiscated, and she went to Petrograd State University and was in the first class of women that were allowed to enroll. There she learned some of the writings of the Greek philosophers Plato and Aristotle. She was able to speak and read German, French, and Russian. She discovered some famous authors such as Victor Hugo and Edmond Rostand. She then studied in State Technicum for Screen Arts in Leningrad. For one of her assignments, she wrote about the actress Pola Negri, and that assignment became her first published work.

In 1925 she was given a visa so she could visit her relatives in America. In America she became a screenwriter and had a play on Broadway.

She believed that man should be a heroic being with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute. She was atheist and did not believe in what she called supernaturalism and mysticism which included any known organized religions. She believed in fact and only what could be proved. She thought that rational egoism was the only right moral principle. So she created a philosophy called objectivism. This philosophy states that reality exists independent of consciousness and that human beings have contact with reality through sense of perception and that knowledge can only be gained through sense of perception. She thought that each individual should be given equal right and should be on his or her own pursuit of happiness.

Now, in these modern times, objectivism isn't very popular. People want to be given things that they haven't earned for themselves. People don't want to work to become happy. They want the generosity of other people to make them happy. They wish things would go their way, but most people want it to be handed to them, but Ayn Rand saw that in order to make any of your wishes to come true, you would have to make it come true through your own hard work and determination. This is also similar to her ideas about enforcing your rights.

  32. Ayn Rand was a very unique individual. Just like others, she had her own morals and beliefs. She even went as far as making her own philosophy called "Objectivism". This is one of the most confusing theories I have ever researched. She decribes it as, "a philosophy for living on earth".
Objectivism is a very individualized philosophy. It is for a distinct personality. The basis is that reality is independent from consciousness. This means that fact is fact, no matter what man's opinion is. Rand is not one for faith, or mystics, but rather the proof in nature. There are four branches: Metaphyics (objective reality), Epistemology (reason), Ethics (self-interest), and Politics (capitalism). From what I can observe, Objectivism is just finding your happiness and interest in the world.

  37. Ayn Rand's view on Objectivism is very unique. She focused in on this lone topic. Objectivism is basically "a philosophy of living on earth." She wrote a book called, Atlas Shrugged, which is about her unique vision of existence and of man's purpose and potential in life. She dedicated her time on this topic through college and her life.
Basically, Objectivism is broken down into 3 topics. Reality; which is the man's feelings, wishes, hopes, and fears. Reason; man's means of perceiving reality, source of knowledge, only guide to action, and basic means of survival. Man; pursuit of his own self-interest and of his own happinessis the highest moral purpose of life. If you held these concepts with total consistency, you would have a full philosophical system to guide the course of your life.

  38. Personal Paragraph: No one person is exactly the same. That is what makes each and every one of us unique in our own ways. I consider myself as the shy one who always has something to smile about. I'm sort of a happy-go-lucky type of person. Believe it or not, I'm probably one of the loudest people you will ever meet. Whether it's a good or bad day, I always manage to smile or find something to laugh about. I try not to dwell too much on the past and look forward to see what may come in the future. I'm not a leader or a follower and I don't try to be. I'm me and nothing can get in the way of that. Anyways, when it comes to school, I'm a straight up nerd and proud of it! I want to actually be someone in life and I'm determined to make something of myself. I plan on attending college but I haven't yet decided which one. I have 2 sports which are cheerleading and track. Let's just say that cheerleading isn't really my thing, but it's the closest thing they had to offer that was similar to gymnastics. I was a gymnast. I was involved with gymnastics for 6 years. I managed to make my way up to a Level 8 before I quit. I miss it very much, but I have other sports to worry about. I also run track where I run hurdles and do high jump. Yes I know, someone as short as me does high jump. Crazy right? I ran hurdles throughout middle school and wasn't to awful bad at it. My life revovles around music. If it wasn't for music, I wouldn't know what to do. Any genre is fine with me. I think that music sometimes speaks what words can't. I'm a movie watcher, no doubt. I love movies. Scary movies are my favorite and always will be. I LOVE food. People think I don't ever eat, boy are they wrong. I eat anytime I get a chance. I can eat 1 1/2 quarts of spagetti at one sitting. Mashed potatoes are delicious. I practically live at Outback. I don't know what I would ever do without food. I also love to travel. I've been many places because of gymnastics competitions, but traveling never gets old. My friends and family mean the world to me and I don't know what I would do with them. Those are just some of the things that make me, me! I don't try to be anyone but myself, and that's what makes me unique. (:

  39. Ayn Rand's real name is Alisa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum. She got her last name 'Rand' from her Remington-Rand typewriter. When she moved to Hollywood, legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille gave her a first job as an extra and then a script reader on his movie King of Kings. It was only her second day in Hollywood. She was an amazing artist and a wonderful thinker. She created her own philosophy called objectivism and also taught it. Her last book Atlas Shrugged, she uses the cigarette as a symbol of human intellect—glowing, burning, bright. She was a smoker throughout her life, and she eventually lost a lung to cancer. She died in 1982.

Objectivism is a philosophy Ayn Rand created and taught herself. She characterized Objectivism as "a philosophy for living on earth," grounded in reality, and aimed at defining man's nature and the nature of the world in which he lives. Rand's philosophy begins with three axioms: existence, identity, and consciousness. She thinks of existence as "existence is identity," identity as "entities that act, and every action is the action of an entity," and consciousness as "the faculty of perceiving that which exists," and "to be conscious is to be conscious of something."
Objectivism today isn't really followed. The name Objectivism comes from the principle that human knowledge and values are objective, which means they are not created by the thoughts one has, but are determined by the nature of reality and to be discovered by man's mind. Once you think about it, its pretty much about finding happiness in your life. All objectivism really is, is another nirvana savvy word.

  40. I know this is late.. my internet wasn't working? I'll go with that.

uniqueness: I'm uniquely me because no one else is nearly as awesome as me. But no, seriously, I'm very unique. I have my own weird sense of humor that most people don't get. My friends do, though, which is why I love them. I don't really know what I want to be, certainly not something boring though. I don't really have any hobbies, but I painted a picture once. It wasn't good. My favorite book is "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coehlo, my favorite movie is "Moulin Rouge", and my all time favorite musical is "Les Miserables". That's about as intresting as I get. Maybe being really boring is what makes me unique.

objectivism: Ayn Rand once described objestivism in simple language:"1)wishing doesn't make it so 2)you can't eat your cake and have it too 3)man is an end in himself 4)give me liberty or give me death". This means reality is objective. You can't look at reality while keeping your emotions involved and see it for what it truely is. You begin to change certain things, whether blatantly or subconsciously, because of your experience. Then realitly is no longer truely objective; it is biased. Objectivism also involves the belief that every person lives for themselves, not for anyone elses' sake.

Ayn Rand facts: I honestly didn't know anything about Ayn Rand before I googled her. I found out thatshe was born in Russia, which explains her name. She not only was a novelist, she was also a screenwriter and a playwrite. The author she most admired was Victor Hugo, and she was for Education Tax Credit. The most interesting thing I found out was that in a 1991, the Information Analysis System Coorporation conducted a survey asking 5,000 Book of the Month Club members what the most influential book they'd read in their life was. The second most common answer was "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand, following "The Bible" at number one.

I saw whwere you put that you think video games are good for the soul. I heard the game Bioshock was based on "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. Im not 100% sure on this; I haven't read it. But I just thought you might appreciate that. C:

  42. My friends, Objectivism is the worship of the individual to the highest degree. I point to the negative view that the narrator takes towards the extreme collectivism that is the dominant philosophy in the beginning of Anthem. I is the rejection of all things that do not best benefit the individual. It holds man as both perfect and as unquestionable. The theory does not directly remove social interaction but places it as the responsibility of the individual to hold up his best interests.

The means to this end are profound. This includes the rejection of any religion. Ayn Rand's ideal system would be minimalist government with a free market economy. Her favorite example was the United States, which she believed was the best in the world. She believed that life was a pursuit of happiness.

I don't know if you realize this but the first line of your personal ("I live for fun, but when it comes down to it I get work done.") rhymes. It sounds kind of like a really bad rap.

  47. Personal Paragraph: In this world you will never find two of the same. You may find two that are extremely similiar, but eventually you will find a distinctive characteristic that makes it different from all of the others. I myself am different from everyone else on this planet. I am shy and quiet, but my heart is loud with words. I tend to over think things, but my mind is full of ambition. People often say that I am too nice, but if that is the case, I shall never have an enemy. I am not the most confident person in the world, but I know who I am and who I want to be. I do not want to be envious, hypicritical, self-righteous, or egotistical. I am proud of who I am, and who I always will be. I walk with pride and content because I refuse to change myself for others. I refuse to let them make me out of something I am not. I refuse to let them control my mind. I refuse because I am me.

  48. Ayn Rand (Alissa Zinovievna Rosenbaum), was born in the beautiful town of St. Petersburg, Russia on February 2, 1905. Ayn was the type of person who believed that every man should have a mind of his own. One great mind should not control all of the minds of human race. Every mind thinks different. Every person has their own opinion and personality. EVERY PERSON IS DIFFERENT! If man could not express their feelings, dreams, or opinions, then life would be empty. Ayn believed that if everyone was the exact same then life had no purpose.

  49. Everyone is unique and you'll never find the same personality. I am energetic and can never sit still for too long. I am naturally a loud person but when trying something new I tend to be shy. When I grow up I want to be a teacher or a writer. I can't say that I have a favorite book. My favorite TV series/ movie would be The Walking Dead. My favorite animal is the cat bar none.I tend to get in conflicts with people because I tend to have "old" preferences.

  50. Personal Paragraph: Everyone is unique; it is impossible to be just like someone else. I believe people try so hard to be unique that they forget how original they really are. What makes me different than most people is the fact I refuse to be involved in drama. I normally will not talk behind anyone's back or even listen to someone do so. I have never made an enemy in my entire life. I've moved a lot and have learned how to make new friends. I try to be as helpful and nice as possible, if I see someone needing help, and don't help them, I'll feel bad about it afterward. I enjoy doing many things. My favorite things to do are "hang" with friends, listen to music, and play video games. I'm very open with music and enjoy a little out of every genre. I have almost every game system known to man and most of them still work. :)

    Objectivism:
Ayn Rand was the first to share the idea of objectivism. she described this philosophy as "the way of life." One of the most famous quotes that would explain this concept it "wishing doesn't make it so." This quote simply means that someone can wish for something all you want, but if you don't do anything about it, nothing will happen. Objectivism will be around forever. Objectivism is a person's wishes, or feelings in life. Everyone has feelings and will do anything to put themselves first.

  53. I feel that I myself stand out in multiple aspects. The first thing I have to say is that I slack way to much, i could do so much better if only I tried. A lot of my interests differ from the majority of today's society. I tend to lean more to outdoor stuff. I also love to wrestle. It's my passion, but has recently been taken due to an incident

    Facts about Ayn:
A very interesting fact about Ayn is that she taught herself to read at the age of six. She wrote a play in 1935 that made it to Broadway. Her most famous novels were "Atlas Shrugged" and "The Fountainhead". She was married to a man named Frank O' Connor until he died 50 years later.

    Objectivism:
Ayn Rand , a russian author and philosopher, was the founder of Objectivism. The way she described it was more of a "way of life". It bluntly states that in order to achieve something you must chase it instead of do nothing. You couldn't classify it as a religion although many hold true to its beliefs. It will be around for a very long time.
Objectivism can be broken into four categories; reality, reason, man and the ideal political-economic system. Reality simply states that facts are facts no matter what anyone questions or argues. Reason is the only way to keep reality in check. Man must exist for his sake and no one else. The perfect economic system is a system in which men deal with one another as traders and not executioners or masters.

  54. Objectivism is a philosophy. It was created by Ayn Rand and featured in her book, Anthem. It has been taken and continued on after her death. It sort of is about being and independent being. It has five concepts. Objectivity, reason, rational self-interest, libertarianism and romantic realism.

It is sort of the opposite to communism. In communism, it is all for one, and one for all. Objectivism is independence of the mind. Objectivism is a concept well known in philosophical society. It also believes that you have to work for what you want.

  55. I am unique in many ways. First off, I am an only child. Sometimes I enjoy it and sometimes I don’t. My favorite pet I have ever had would be my Rottweiler Alex. My favorite music is either country or pop. My favorite novel would have to be Cleopatra’s Daughter. In my opinion my favorite way to communicate is face to face but next to that are phone calls. Well, that’s me, Kayla Cooper.

There are many interesting facts about Ayn Rand. She was born in Russia. She had to teach herself to read. She also witnessed many revolutions in Russia. When she learned an excessive amount of facts about America, she pictured it as the perfect country where everyone is free. She also struggled a lot before finally writing a successful novel. Ayn Rand is a very intriguing person.

Objectivism is a way of thinking. It was established my Ayn Rand herself. She uses this philosophy in many of her writings including Anthem. Many people use the same kind of objectivism in their writing. You can find it almost anywhere. The five most important concepts of objectivism are; objectivity, reason, rational self-interest, libertarianism, and romantic realism.

  56. Objectivism is the name of a specific philosophy. There is no greater moral good than happiness according to objectivism. Happiness does not occur by chance. Basically, it states that happiness requires a rational respect for the facts of reality. That one must live by objective principles and moral integrity.
In objectivism, reality exists as an absolute. One must deal with facts, because feelings, fears, or things hoped for have no impact on the outcome. Reason is man’s means of interpreting reality. Man exists for his own self interests. Attaining happiness is man’s highest purpose and capitalism is when people deal with one another for mutual benefit.

  57. I believe that everybody including me are very unique in many ways. I really do not have a favorite thing like music, movies, ect. I'm really not the person that likes to communicate in public, but I do like do discuss things on an interesting topic. Face to face commucation is the best for me because I like to get my point accross directly to the person I'm talking to. Playing my drums is one hobby that I enjoy doing and that it pretty much me.

Some facts I found about Ayn Rand is that she was born in Russia with the name Alisa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum, but then later changed her name when she moved to the US. She was very famous for being an author philosopher. She taught herself to read at age six and made a play that made it to Broadway.

Objectivism is pretty much a more "complex" way of thinking. It states if you want to chase a goal or do something new, go for it and don't stare at it. This is used in many of her writings.

  58. objectivism:Ayn Rand had many deep opinions on objectivism. She believed that reality exists as an objective, facts are facts, independent of man’s feelings, wishes, hopes or fears. She also believed that reason is a man's only source of knowledge, his only guide to action, and his basic means of survival. Ayn Rand strongly believed in independence, nonviolence, and capitalism. Everyone can supply their own happiness and that's the highest moral of life.

People deal with one another, not as victims, or slaves, but by being free.Violence is not the answer and makes you no better. All values are objective. It shows that it would be an advantage to somehow convince people to believe relativism.

  61. HONORS PROMPT/Objectivism transcends transcends into today's society whenever someone stands up for what they believe. Or at least I think so; you might think differently than I. I respect that fact and your opinion. I wouldn't want to be a sheep or a shepherd. If your the leader and do something wrong, they blame you. If your the follower then you are most likely mindless.
If I'm going to be a leader then I want to be a good one. I would hate to lead something I don't believe in, it would just feel wrong. Martin Luther King Junior is a great example of objectivism in his fight for equal rights (not just for African Americans but also those who are different). Although I think his beliefs were more based in a deep Christian faith. Objectivism sounds good to me.
